I heard that. Well, read that, but you get the idea.

On another note, I've noticed an ABC Family contact in there. That one required an entirely different spin, since Kim isn't actually on that network, to the best of my knowledge. Well, it made for a shorter letter, anyway.

*Edit* P.S. Looking on the soon-to-be-defunct "Save Disney" site, I notice that it gives the names of all of the board of directors, and a way to contact them via snail-mail. A copy of the same letter could be sent to each of them individually. That drastically increases the number of letters, but when you write to the whole board of directors, you show that you mean business. Unfortunately, most of us aren't shareholders, so that venue may not attract much attention. Still, it would be worth a shot.

Probably, but I'd say do both. Although my last fax I know got noticed. Here's the full story on that: http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/Mission_Kim_Possible/message/11675

Yes, but that doesn't mean it was noticed by someone who can do something about it, just that someone picked it up and looked at it. I mean, I'm still going to do this... I'm hoping my professional format complete with mailing address will at least garner a second look. Though I currently have to go back and edit all but 3 of my 13 letters (the other 10 are kinda bad). One thing in the auto-email on the site that worries me. Well, two things. One is the fact that it is a form e-mail. sure, it says all that needs to be said, but still. Second is the mention of an organization. My concern is that that will scream "whiny special interest group!" Maybe it won't, maybe I'm underestimating Disney, but it's a thought. I might use my general letter I intend to send to the members of the Board of Directors. This'll cost me a bit in stamps, but it's worth it for a format that's hard to ignore. If only we could get more people to do the faxes/letters/phone calls, instead of just the e-mail. I suppose we'll see, won't we? Each person's letter is like a wave on the sea. Alone, it doesn't seem to make an impression, but enough of them, and they can wear down the strongest walls. Kinda poetic, isn't it? ;)

Yes, but multiply that by say 50 faxes and she's going to tell a couple other people at disney about it, either casually or profesionally. Eventually word will get 'round to the big wigs and the story will probably have changes to 500 faxes by then. :D

Couldn't hurt.

Still what? If there was no form letter there would be far fewer emails. emails won't be read, they'll be counted with maybe one or two samples. The actual content isn't as important as the numbers (only applies to email).

We're trying...

You make a good point about the e-mails. Well, it saves me time.

Though that reminds me of a question concerning the e-mail program on the site. If you, say, click all 20 of the boxes, will it send an individual e-mail to each address, or one e-mail with all of the recipients in the To: field. If it's the latter, then that would make it preferable to send to each individually, which is a bit more legwork (metaphorically speaking).

While I'm coming along with my personal contributions, I'm at a loss as to how to spread the word. I know only a few people who like the show, and I do not have contact with any of those who might like it enough to do something. Best I've got is a disgruntled "Even Stevens" fan who occasionally watches Kim Possible. Enough for maybe a petition signature, but that's it. There is one venue I might have available that might work, at least to attract people that like to protest, but it's unavailable until September.

That's what it does. And We'd like to be able to do the send to each individually, but we can't do that right now. Our codeing master might have a chance to look into it sometime...

Let me tell you a story. (This is the story of the "02-10-04 SaveKP.com extends a warm welcome to Mr. Arnold's 5th period class." entry on kp.savedisneyshows.org.) Shortly after launching the original KP website (savekimpossible.com) I gave a "personal passion speech" in my English class (Senior year of High School). I started my presentation by asking who had watched the show and every single student in the class raised their hands. The only person who hadn't was the teacher. And 1/3 of the class of 30ish students publicly admitted to being fans. I had no clue how popular the show was. Now of course I don't think anyone from my English class joined up with the cause, but my point is I'm sure you know a good sized number of people who like the show that you don't even know about. A good way to find out who they are is to wear some Save KP merchandise: http://www.cafepress.com/savekp (All priced at-cost).

Shameless plug alert! But you do have a point.

*Edit* P.S. incidentally, the current program could probably be edited to do that simply by adding a loop function that runs through every address. It's a little more involved than that, as whoever does that sort of thing knows, but my point is it is well within the realm of possibility, though it could require an hour or two to code and debug. Or it could be fiendishly difficult, it depends on how the thing's set up in terms of internal code.

I'll email our Webmaster in charge of that with a note to look at this thread so he can address that himself. :D

I will put that on my high priority list. This would certainly help also to get a more accurate e-mail count. It would require me to basically redo the internal PHP code. But it is possible. I will try and get it done before I leave town Monday. :-D

Whew. I was afraid I'd be completely wrong and look stupid. :P That's what I get for having only 1 semester of programming under my belt.

Well folks, the SKP e-mail program has officially been updated. Through the magic of HTML, JavaScript, PHP, and the magic of getting them all to talk to each other lol the e-mail program now sends out one e-mail per address, for each of the addresses you have checked. You will also get a "auto-reply" (more of a pretend auto-reply) that includes the message you sent along with the e-mail addresses you sent the message to. I will also get a copy of every single e-mail, so we will know exactly how many e-mails are sent out, not just how many times the program was used. All the SaveDisney.com addresses have removed due to some bouncing issues. Basically since SaveDisney is being shut down, e-mail addresses are being shut down. Roy and Stanley have also been taken out of the e-mail program. Their e-mail addresses were also through SaveDisney, and until they get perhaps an official e-mail address through Disney, I don't think they'll be much use to us. There still may be some bouncing issues. Just have to see what comes up. I don't want to remove anyone from the program other than Roy and Stanley, so whoever is good at investigating e-mail addresses, have fun. :-D Links have also been added in the e-mail program to "Save KP Day" and "Save Kim-a-thon". Since that's done I can now get the updates to the other e-mail programs which are still functional, just working on the old system. But SKP is the one that's important right now.

If you're interested in the coding basically I'm using hidden form values as booleans to make the connection between the HTML and PHP so the PHP file knows who to send the e-mails to. You can "view-source" on the index.html page to see the JavaScript code and the HTML code. In the same directory is sendmail.php which is the PHP code. Added some extra JavaScript and PHP code to make this work. I won't ever claim my code to be the "cleanest" code, but it gets the job done.

Everything seems fine so far in my testing. Hopefully it stays that way. :-D

I have a question...

Do we make up our own letter and send it to petition@savedisneyshows.com or do we just put our name in the e-mail and send you only the name and not the letter?

Wayne, you rock. Out loud. Seriously.

=))

I kill me.

Seriously though, good job on that, and for pandering to the geeks out here who care about the technical stuff. ;)

well acctually, this is extremely beneficial because i'm guessing wayne can also see everybody that DID send an e-mail, and then we'll know who DIDNT. You see, every SKPDay on MKP people always claim they've sent 200 e-mails or something, but the program was used less than 200 times which would mean, a lot of people are acctually lying. I personally think, if your not really here and ready to help, you really shouldnt be here wasting time.

You imply a contrast with what was said earlier, RP, but you actually went on a different track. I'm just sayin' is all.

But as to your actual point: True, true. I didn't even think of that. Form email combine with mass e-mailing program = teh pwnage. Eh... it's just a really good thing. It's getting where I don't even know what I'm saying... I must be tired.

In the email you send to petition@savedisneyshows.com all you need to put is your first and last name and "I'm giving Greg Isaac (or Adam) permission to sign me to the petition." If you want to write more that's OK, but please keep it rather short, I do have to print all of them. ;)
